Surgeons in Heat is an indie rock band based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Current members are lead singer/guitarist Johnathon Mayer, bassist Ryan Reeve, keyboardist/vocalist Bradley Kruse and drummer Sam Reitman. The band has generated some good buzz over the years around the Midwest and have been featured on NPR's World Cafe. They have released three full-length albums. On their latest LP, Bored Immortals (Maximum Pelt/Shuga Records), they break out their most ambitious record yet. It's a wiggly pop gem, with lush layers of chorus drenched synths and guitars that float over fat bass lines and the combo of both live and electronic drums.
" Bored Immortals showcases some of the most creative and ambitious arrangements of the band's discography. ”
“Combining dreamily nostalgic pop and indie rock with R&B and psychedelia, I daresay Bored Immortals might be a perfect summer soundtrack.”
“A heavily tinkered, endearingly odd, pop-rock record, filled with nods to jazz, R&B, prog and yacht rock.”
“Old-school R&B meets Beatles pop sensibilities with a fair amount of ’50s doo wop and’80s synth pop thrown in for good measure. It’s hard not to love.”
“It’s Surgeons In Heat’s most cohesive, most front-to-back satisfying record to date.”
